Major viruses that have hit computers in the past

Over the years there have been a variety of major viruses to hit computers around the world, making antivirus spyware removal programs more and more relevant as the years go by. It used to be that in order to have access to an antivirus spyware removal program you needed to deal with a third-party company after you purchased your computer, but in the modern era they come standard with most computers purchased from stores.

Perhaps one of the first viruses known was back in 1971, called The Creeper. While it was not a major virus, it was nevertheless the first and led to the evolution of The Morris Worm, which was released in 1988 and is considered one of the first wild viruses that spread through the Internet. The first serious virus to cause any harm was the ILOVEYOU virus in 2000, which caused between six and ten billion dollars of damage to businesses around the world, and to this date is still considered one of the worst viruses to have spread across the Internet, and increased the usage of antivirus spyware removal programs.

Prior to 2000 worms and viruses generally propagated a few new incidents per year, but as more and more countries around the world have gained access to the Internet that number has grown considerably, and in 2003 there were nearly a dozen, ranging from the SQL Slammer Worm, otherwise known as the Sapphire Worm, to the ProRat and the Blaster, to name a few. Every year new versions show up, and antivirus designers update their programs to compensate.
