What Is The Spyware Antivirus 2010?
Of the malicious software currently menacing internet users, one piece of spyware, Antivirus 2010, is particularly troublesome. Antivirus 2010 is what is known as a rogue anti-spyware program. The fact that it is considered rogue is that while Antivirus 2010 is widely advertised as an anti-malware scanner it does not in fact scan your computer for genuine spyware. The results of the so-called scans it does perform are false. That is, the reports generated by Antivirus 2010 are fictitious. After the scan has been made, this rogue program will then advise the user to pay for the full software to remove the spyware it claims to have detected.
Antivirus 2010 employs a variety of tricks to fool inexperienced users into believing that their computers are infected with all sorts of malicious spyware, viruses and so on. These include fake security alerts in the Windows taskbar. A bogus pop-up will appear on the user’s computer screen appearing to be the Windows Security Center, it isn’t. The latest forgery utilized by Antivirus 2010 is the creation of a fake ‘Blue Screen of Death’. This term refers to the error screen (which has a blue background) that is displayed on some operating systems, Microsoft Windows included, when a critical system error has occurred. It usually indicates that irreversible damage has occurred somewhere in the system. Antivirus 2010 mimics this screen at regular intervals, designed to create in the user the genuine fear that their computer has picked up a particularly nasty virus. This is of course designed to scare people into purchasing the Antivirus 2010 software.
Remember that rather than a program to remove spyware Antivirus 2010 is spyware. Often people can be infected with Antivirus 2010 by picking up a Trojan. In this case, the user has not chosen to download Antivirus 2010 but instead it has managed to sneak onto their computers and install itself. The first thing the user notices are the spyware alerts, fake ones generated by Antivirus 2010, informing them that their computers are infected and recommending that they purchase the full software in order to remove them.
Removing the spyware – Antivirus 2010 won’t go without a fight
Once it has infected your computer Antivirus 2010 isn’t going to let you simply uninstall it. Because it is spyware, Antivirus 2010 has hidden files on your computer that will reinstall the software every time you attempt to get rid of the program. This being so, you will need to install a genuine anti-malware program that will seek out and destroy all the malicious files hidden in your computer system.
